About

Software engineer, systems operator, and long-time web builder.

I am based in Tauranga, New Zealand, and have been building software and web systems since 1995.

I work across custom software, WordPress, hosting, AWS, and production support. The common thread is not a particular tool. It is production responsibility: understanding what needs to exist, building it in a maintainable way, and keeping enough operational discipline around it that it still works later.

My current writing focuses on software delivery with AI agents. Not AI as autocomplete, and not vague claims about replacing software engineering. I am interested in what changes when experienced engineering process is used to plan, direct, review, and ship work through coding agents.

What I write about

The articles here are practical notes from real delivery work: estimating AI-agent projects, splitting work into agent-ready slices, finding hidden requirements, dealing with design churn, and separating implementation speed from software engineering judgement.

Background

I also run Managed Hosting Partners, where the same production discipline shows up in WordPress hosting: monitoring, backups, staging, updates, security, AWS infrastructure, and support for business-critical websites.
